The award-winning Dales Community Pop Choir will be celebrating its tenth anniversary by performing at Ripon Cathedral and the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
The community choir, whose members come mainly from Leyburn and its surrounding towns and villages, was launched by musical director
Debbie Allenby in 2015 with only 15 members.
The choir now has 60 members
They enjoy performing pop music and modern show tunes in three and four-part harmony.
Leonie Garrard, spokesperson for the group, said: “On their 10th anniversary year, we are delighted, and very excited, to be performing at the
Edinburgh Fringe Festival for the first time.
“The tour has given the choir something exciting to look forward to and will build on the team spirit and sense of community they already share. For those among the choir who may not often have the opportunity to stay away from home it will also give them a break from everyday
responsibilities and roles.
“48 choir members plus Debbie and Paul will be staying in Edinburgh for three nights and performing at three venues across the weekend.”
Then on September 20 the choir will be performing a 10-Year Anniversary Celebration Concert at Ripon Cathedral with guest choir, Knot Another Choir.
The choir will be performing songs from acts such as Coldplay, ELO, Billie Eilish, Queen and more.
There will be a charity raffle on the night with proceeds being shared between Ripon Cathedral and the charity Emerging Voices.
Tickets can be purchased online from www.ticketsource.co.uk/the-dales-community-pop-choir, in person from Ripon Cathedral or from Milners of Leyburn
