Dales dance student takes three exams in one day — and gets distinction in all

A dance student is celebrating after receiving three distinctions for three exams she took all in one day.

Millie Holden, 14, from Redmire, gained the top mark in grades 3 and 4 ballet with the Royal Academy of Dance and silver jazz award with the examining body of the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing.

Millie has been studying with Janet Seymour’s School of Theatre Dance she was nine and attends classes five times a week.

Janet said: “She works extremely hard in all lessons and practises at home every day.

“I am very proud of what she has achieved. Millie has gained her grades 3 and 4 ballet in just one term, and to take all three exams in one day is an amazing achievement.”

Millie said: “I love dancing, especially with Janet.

“She really engages us all and she’s given me some really valuable advice, too. I’ve had so many amazing opportunities with the dance school.”

Millie’s mum Rachel added: “Millie is always quite nervous about finding out her results.

“She’s never over confident that she did really well and always comes out of the exams wondering if she could have done better, so relief is probably the best word to describe her feelings.

“She’s never satisfied with anything less than a distinction, then she’ll scrutinise all the different marks she receives and see how she can improve on those, constantly wanting to better herself.”

Janet said all the school’s students passed their modern, jazz and ballet exams with merit or distinction maintaining grades.
