Evening meetings for upland farmers on grants and stewardship schemes are to be held in Wensleydale and Swaledale.

The Wensleydale Pantry in Hawes will host a meeting on Thursday, January 31, while the Buck Inn in Reeth will host a gathering on Thursday, February 14.

The meetings are being organised by the Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority and will start at 7.30pm, with a free supper included.

Advice and assistance will be provided on Countryside Stewardship Mid and Higher Tier applications;  the Hedgerows and Boundaries Scheme; Water Capital and Woodland grants; and Ammonia Emissions guidelines.

Sally Howorth, from the national park authority, said: “The next application window for Countryside Stewardship schemes is likely to open in February.

“Farmers are invited to come along to the evening meetings to find out what further support is available to them from our farm conservation and trees and woodlands team.”
