Three Dales primary schools will open their doors for prospective pupils and their parents next week.

Bainbridge, Askrigg and West Burton primary schools will hold open days on Monday, January 13 (Bainbridge), Tuesday, January 14 (Askrigg) and Wednesday, January 15 (West Burton).

The events aim to showcase the range of education and activities available ahead of the January 31 deadline for primary school applications.

Each of the schools will be open from 9.30am to 10.30am and 10.45am to 11.45am on their respective day, with school councillors and RESPECT code ambassadors providing guided tours.

Places are available for all year groups, including in the newly restored key stage one class in West Burton.

Children from nursery to year 2 are taught at Bainbridge, Askrigg focuses on years 3-6, and West Burton covers the full range from reception to year 6.

Pupils from all BAWB schools come together in their full-year groups one day a week, as well as for additional regular activities such as swimming lessons, forest schools and cultural excursions, all of which are available to all year groups.

Executive headteacher Charlotte Harper said: “Families are welcome to come and visit our schools at any time of the year, with prior appointment, but open days are a great opportunity for them to drop-in informally.

“We are looking forward to welcoming families and members of the community to the open days across all of our federation’s schools and demonstrating what we offer and how our schools work together.

“We’re particularly keen to showcase our reinstated EYFS / KS1 class in West Burton.

“Our new starters – children and staff alike – have made an extremely positive start to the school year and would love to show off what they’ve been doing to the community and potential new friends.”
