Dales villagers take part in litter pick

Wensleydale villagers collected more than 25 bags of rubbish during a recent litter pick.

Residents of Carperby used the village WhatsApp group to organise the litter-pick following a call for action from villager Nell Dinsdale.

As well as 25 bags of rubbish from the village and surrounding fields and footpaths, a number of car parts were also collected from the roadside.

The pick extended out towards Redmire, Askrigg and Aysgarth Falls, with residents in neighbouring villages also getting involved.

Carperby residents say nearby Aysgarth Falls was inundated with visitors last year, who left large amounts of rubbish.

Villagers are concerned the same thing will happen again this year and are appealing to the local authorities to provide more bins and more visible signage asking visitors to take their rubbish home.
