Students at The Rhythm and Shoes Dance Academy are celebrating another year of outstanding exam success after achieving top marks across a range of dance disciplines.
The academy said every student who took examinations ahead of its annual shows at The Georgian Theatre in Stockton on June 21 and June 28 achieved either Highly Commended or Honours grades.
Teachers praised the dedication of the students, who balanced their exam preparation alongside rehearsals for the performances.
A spokesperson for the academy said: “Our students worked incredibly hard balancing exam preparations alongside their show routines and were duly rewarded for their dedication. They literally swept the board with top marks of Highly Commended and Honours and we couldn’t be prouder.”
The academy has also thanked the staff at The Georgian Theatre for helping the productions run smoothly, as well as its volunteer backstage chaperones and helpers.
“We would like to thank our dedicated backstage chaperones and helpers, without whom we simply wouldn’t be able to provide as many lovely opportunities for our students,” the spokesperson added. “We would also like to thank all our parents and guardians for their continued support, making sure children arrive properly prepared and ready to learn.”
As well as weekly dance classes, The Rhythm and Shoes Dance Academy offers students a wide range of additional opportunities, including performances, professional workshops, theatre trips and social events designed to help build confidence and lasting friendships.
The academy also benefits from links with professionals working in the entertainment industry, both in London’s West End and overseas, giving students valuable opportunities to learn from experienced performers.
Looking ahead, staff say they are delighted to be welcoming back several senior students in September following gap years and university studies.
Although the current term is drawing to a close, preparations are already underway for the busy Christmas performance season, with bookings already starting to come in.
Registration for September classes is now open, with the academy encouraging anyone interested in joining to arrange a taster session before the summer holidays.
