Dance academy pupils to perform at Georgian Theatre

Pupils from the Rhythm and Shoes Dance Academy have overcome the challenges of the pandemic to stage performances at the Georgian Theatre Royal again.

Pupils will be treading the boards this Saturday in the first of two weekends of shows entitled A Step in Time.

More shows will be staged on Saturday, July 16 by a second team of pupils.

The shows are a whistle-stop tour of music through the decades from 1950s to the 2000s.

Principal Hazel Richmond, who runs the academy with daughter Louise Richmond, said: “To finally see all our hard work reach fruition is incredibly rewarding.

“This has by far been the most challenging few months that we have ever encountered and we are truly amazed by the resilience and dedication of all our pupils, parents and guardians without whom we wouldn’t be where we are today.

“Everyone has been so supportive and we are truly grateful for the support that we receive from everyone including local businesses.

“We would also like to express our huge thanks to Clare and her team at The Georgian Theatre for their help. We are happy to be able to support our local theatre by staging our shows there enabling us to showcase our work at the centre of the community where we operate.”

There are a few remaining tickets available which can be obtained from the theatre either online or by calling the box office on 01748 825252.
