Dance students celebrate exam success

A total of 28 students from the Dales Dance School of Performing Arts took their Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) ballet examinations at the Leyburn Arts and Community Centre in October.

Of these, 26 students were children aged seven to 13 who had been studying the Royal Academy’s syllabus under the tutorship of Hannah Smith and Janet Seymour.

All children successfully passed their exam from Grade 1 up to Grade 4, with 75  per cent students achieving a high merit.

Two adult students were also successful in their exam, achieving a high merit and a distinction at Grade 5 level.

Both dancers were coached by Janet Seymour.

Dales Dance School of Performing Arts offers exam sessions at least once a school year, hosted by Leyburn Arts and Community Centre, and currently holds a 100 per cent pass record.

Hannah and Janet congratulated their students, saying: “At any age the examinations are daunting, but for the young boys and girls to have achieved such success is wonderful and a great credit to them.”
