Deadline looms for registering new secondary school pupils in North Yorkshire

Families with children currently in year 6 who will be transferring from primary to secondary school in September 2018 are reminded to apply for a school place by the end of this month.

So far just over half of eligible families have made an application in North Yorkshire.

Any application received after 31 October 2017 will be treated as late and will be considered after those received on time. This could affect the allocation of a child’s school place.

This story continues after the adverts:

“Families need to get their child’s application in as soon as possible” said County Councillor Patrick Mulligan, North Yorkshire’s Executive Member for Schools.

“If an application is not made on time then families may find it much harder to get their child into a school of choice”.

All the information families need to know about North Yorkshire’s secondary schools is available online at www.northyorks.gov.uk/admissions where people can also complete an online application form.

Parents or carers can list up five schools and rank them in order of preference.

National Offer Day for secondary school allocation is 1 March 2018.
