Deadline nears for Richmondshire businesses to take part in recruitment scheme

Richmondshire businesses looking to recruit young people through a government led funding initiative have been reminded they have just days left to lodge an application.

Firms can use the district council to help it happen as the local authority is a gateway to the kickstart scheme.

The scheme can help place 16 to 24-year-olds in jobs by providing funding to create new job placements for young people on universal credit and at risk of long term unemployment.

But because each application must be for a minimum of 30 jobs – and a single employer cannot always provide this many placements – a Kickstart gateway can be used.

Richmondshire District Council has become one of these gateways.

It means smaller businesses can still apply for just one or two placements – but the district council must have a minimum of 30 applications.

Employers of all sizes can apply for funding which covers:

Applications close on January 15.
