Community groups have until mid-June to lodge a bid for cash from a fund set up to celebrate the visit by the UCI Road World Cycling Championships to Richmondshire.
The district council’s UCI Event Fund 2019 has been established to help parish and town councils, community groups and voluntary groups organise events when the district welcomes the race on Thursday 26 September and Sunday 29 September.
A total of £25,000 has been set aside to support community based events and celebrations – £5,000 will be allocated to projects in Richmond which hosts a race start – either as one joint single project or multiple projects within Richmond.
The remaining £20,000 will be allocated to community events outside of Richmond, with priority given to those taking place on the route of either day, should the scheme be oversubscribed.
The funds will be taken from the surplus business rates pool dividend.
The maximum grant per application is £2,000 with no match funding required. Applicants can submit more than one application, however a second bid may be overlooked if it is oversubscribed.
The deadline for applications is 12noon on 17 June – the application form is available on richmondshire.gov.uk
