A car believed to have been deliberately set alight sparked a grass fire on Arkengarthdale Moor on Wednesday evening.
Fire crews from Reeth, Leyburn and Richmond were called to the incident at 6.22pm after reports of a moorland fire.
When firefighters arrived, they found a vehicle fully engulfed in flames, with the blaze having spread to the surrounding grassland.
The fire affected an area measuring approximately 25 metres by 25 metres.
Crews used beaters and knapsack sprayers to tackle the moorland fire, while water was ferried across the remote terrain using an Argocat all-terrain vehicle to help bring the blaze under control.
The vehicle was completely destroyed in the fire.
North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service said the blaze is believed to have been started deliberately and North Yorkshire Police have been informed.
