A demonstration calling for improved rights for transgender and non binary people is scheduled to take place in Richmond next week.
The event will be held in the Market Place from 1pm to 2pm on Sunday, July 19.
The event is being organised by community group LGBTQ+ in Richmondshire.
It is being held following reports Boris Johnson is set to scrap plans to allow people to change their legal gender by “self-identifying” as a different sex.
The group says the demonstration will call for the right to self-identification to be safeguarded, it will promote gender neutral and inclusive spaces including toilets and ask for the official recognition of chosen pronouns and gender markers used by non binary people.
Organisers are asking all participants to practise social distancing.
