Dog show, fun day and barbecue to be held near Richmond

Richmondshire dog enthusiasts and businesses have come together to organise a dog show including a barbecue and fun day activities.

The K9 Capers dog show being organised by Richmondshire Animal Antics will take place at Low Gingerfield Farm, near Richmond, this Sunday from 11am to 3pm.

There will be a barbecue and beer tend, trade stands, ringcraft demonstration, tombolas, raffles, dog law talk and author book signing.

Other activities will include information on dog blood bank donations, an on call vet, canine nutrition advice, children;s games and competitions.

Classes for the dog show, which is being sponsored by The Raw Store, include puppy, junior, veteran, fancy dress, junior handling.

Judging will start at 12 noon and entry is £1 a class per dog.  The judge will be vet James Haddow.

Admission to the event is free.

The fun day will raise money for charities and good causes including the Cinnamon Trust, Saving Yorkshires Dogs, Therapy Dogs UK, Animal Friends of Catterick Garrison and the Animal Friends of Turkey.

Organisers say that if the dog show is a success it will become an annual event and organisers would like to hear from any local animal related businesses who would like to be involved next year.
