More than £6,000 has been handed out to local good causes from money raised at last year’s Hunton Steam Gathering.
Despite rain on the Saturday, the Sunday at the 2018 event was the busiest in the show’s history.
Due to this success, money has been handed out to a number of charities and good causes.
These include: Herriot Hospice Homecare, Yorkshire Air Ambulance, Marie Curie, Cystic Fibrosis Care, Dementia Forward, Hunton & Arrathorne School, Hunton Toddler Group, Wensleydale Railway and Bedale Explorer Scouts.
A presentation evening was held on February 20 to hand the money to representatives of the chosen charities.
Ben Jobling, spokesman for the event, said: “The voluntary organising committee aim to offer charitable support to local causes and would like to thank all those who attend or support the gathering.
“The committee would also like to thank the landowners (Walkers and Chapmans) for their continued support in allowing the use of their land to facilitate the increasingly popular event.”
This year’s Hunton Steam Gathering takes place on September 7 and 8.
