Driver cut free after lorry overturns in Catterick Garrison

The driver of a HGV was cut free by firefighters today after their vehicle overturned.

The incident happened at an industrial site in Catterick Garrison.

Emergency services were called at about 10am.

The vehicle had overturned with the male driver trapped inside.

Richmond and Colburn crews attended a single vehicle road traffic collision.

A spokesperson for North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service said: “Once in attendance, the crew used a reciprocating saw to make a ‘letterbox’ in the windscreen to gain access to the casualty.

” The crew then used a spinal board to extricate the casualty to hand over to the paramedics.

“We wish the driver all the best in their recovery.”

Firefighters from Richmond, Colburn and an incident support unit from Ripon attended the incident.
