Driver taken to hospital after crash on A6136 near Richmond

A driver was taken to hospital after becoming trapped inside a vehicle following a collision on the A6136 near Richmond.

Emergency services were called to the scene at around 6pm after reports of a single-vehicle road traffic collision in which a car had struck a wall.

Fire crews from Richmond and Reeth attended alongside paramedics and found that the driver remained trapped inside the vehicle. Firefighters used stabilisation equipment and provided first aid assistance while the casualty was assessed by ambulance crews.

The driver was treated at the scene before being taken to hospital by road ambulance for further treatment.

Three other occupants had already been removed from the vehicle before emergency services arrived. Two people had exited the vehicle themselves, while a third person had been helped from the vehicle by a member of the public.

All three were checked over by paramedics at the scene.

North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service said crews used specialist stabilisation equipment and first aid resources during the incident.
