Duck Club provides funding for triathlon safety equipment

Richmond Duck Club have given a generous donation to Richmond Triathlon Club for the purchase of safety equipment.

The sports club used the funding to buy a sit-on-top kayak with paddle, a number of inflatable tow floats, rescue buoys and spotters binoculars.

The equipment will allow the club to provide safety cover for swim coaching in open water.

Club welfare officer Emma Smith said: “As a club we take the safety and welfare of our members to be our number one priority.

“This generous donation has enabled us to purchase all the necessary safety cover items to deliver first class, safe open water sessions.

“We are humbled by the generosity of the Duck Club but also extremely grateful.”

Members aged from 8 eight upwards are given coaching at Ellerton Lake.

Many triathlons, particularly at the higher level are in the open water so being able to offer this progressive step means the members can continue achieving results going forward.
