Easter blockbusters to feature at Station Cinema

The Station Cinema.

The Station Cinema in Richmond has a number of Easter blockbusters planned for the school holidays, bosses say.

Starring Jim Carrey and Idris Elba, Sonic The Hedgehog 2 spins onto the screens from April 1

Cinema manager Dan Westgarth said: “A perfect family viewing, the film sees Sonic settling in Green Hills and eager to prove that he has what it takes to be a true hero.

“His test comes when Dr. Robotnik (played by Jim Carrey) returns with a new partner, Knuckles in search of a mystical emerald that has the power to destroy civilizations.

“Sonic teams up with his own sidekick, Tails, and together they embark on a globe-trotting journey to find the emerald before it falls into the wrong hands.

Back in 2001 Harry Potter and the Philosophers Stone took the movie world by storm just as the novel back did in 1997 and here, we are over 20 years later with the final piece of the spin off series, Fantastic Beasts: Secrets of Dumbledore.

The third and final part of the trilogy follows Professor Albus Dumbledore (Jude Law) attempting to stop the dark wizard Gellert Grindelwald (Now Mads Mikkelsen).

Unable to stop him alone, he entrusts magizoologist Newt Scamander to lead an intrepid team of wizards and witches.

They soon encounter an array of old and new beasts as they clash with Grindelwald’s growing legion of followers. Perfect viewing for the older kids, and those little witches and wizards among us.

Dan added: “And finally to see out the first week of Easter we have the colourful and crazy animated crime caper ‘Bad Guys’, which shows us the journey of notorious criminals, Mr Wolf, Mr Snake, Mr Piranha, Mr Shark and… Ms Tarantula as they attempt to stave off parole and become model citizens – it’s an accident waiting to happen.”
