A horse called Elvis was rescued from a bog by firefighters and vets yesterday.

Fire crews from Masham and Leyburn, along with the Malton animal rescue crew, were called to assist a lady whose horse had become trapped up to its shoulders in a bog in Kilgram Lane, Jervaulx, at about 9.30am.

The horse was rescued by fire crews using animal rescue equipment and with the assistance of a farmer’s tractor.

This story continues after the adverts:

A vet from Yoredale Vets attended and sedated the horse to allow crews to work and release the animal.

Elvis was left in care of his owner.
