Emergency services called after collision on A684

The emergency services were called out following a collision and vehicle fire on the A684 last night.

The single-vehicle incident occurred at the railway bridge near Harmby towards Bedale.

Police and firefighters were called to the scene at about 11.30pm on Saturday night.

Fire crews used breathing apparatus, a hose reel and thermal imaging cameras to extinguish the fire.

A spokesperson for North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service said the area around the crash site was searched and nobody was found.

They added: “The fire was believed to have been caused due to a damaged fuel tank following a single vehicle road traffic collision.”
