Two people cut free from wreckage after crash near Catterick Village

Two people were cut free from the wreckage of their vehicle after a crash near Catterick Village yesterday.

The emergency services were called to the scene at around 11.20am.

The incident was a two-car collision on the A6055 at the junction with Catterick Lane and Leeming Lane.

Police, firefighters from Richmond and Northallerton, ambulance crews and a Great North Air Ambulance attended the scene.

A spokesperson for North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service said: “Crews used cutting gear to extricate the driver and passenger of a Skoda, who were then taken to hospital via road ambulance.

“The third passenger of the Skoda and the driver of the Vauxhall Astra were all treated for precautionary checks by the ambulance service.”

The road was closed for several hours while emergency services worked at the scene.

Police urged motorists to avoid the area.
