
The emergency services were called to reports of a teenager in difficulty in the River Swale this morning.
The incident involving a male teenager happened near Mercury Bridge at about 1am.
Police, the fire service, paramedics and members of Swaledale Mountain Rescue Team attended.

Fire crews from Reeth, Richmond and Leyburn searched the river bank using thermal imaging camera and torches.
It is understood the teenager was found but had not gone into the water and they were left in the care of the police and the ambulance service.
