Emergency services called to crash on A66

The emergency services were called to the A66 near Scotch Corner this morning after a vehicle hit the side barrier.

The incident happened at about 9.40am.

Firefighters from Richmond attended as dust from the airbag was initially mistaken as smoke.

They arrived to find the driver in the care of police and no sign of fire.

Crews administered first aid for minor injuries to the driver’s hands and then used crew power to help police and highway officers move the vehicle to a safe location
