The emergency services were called out this evening to reports of a person in the river.
Police, firefighters and volunteers from Swaledale Mountain Rescue Team (SMRT) were called to the River Ure near Middleham.
A spokesperson for SMRT said the person was later found safe and well.
It is understood the male did not enter the river.
The road was closed while emergency services worked at the scene.
