The emergency services were called to a serious collision near Catterick Bridge today.
The incident was reported at about 6.10am.
It occurred on Catterick Road, near Catterick Racecourse.
Fire crews from Richmond and Bedale were called to the scene.
Police and paramedics also attended.
The road remained blocked at 7.30am
