Evening to remember for Richmond Town FC youngsters

Young football players had an evening to remember when they were chose as player mascots for a game at Middlesbrough FC’s Riverside Stadium.

Richmond Town FC’s juniors were invited along to accompany the players on to the pitch at Tuesday’s game against Hull FC.

Twenty players from the club’s U7s, U8s and U9s teams made the trip.

Trip organiser and U7s coach Kris Jackson said they arrived to met by Middlesbrough legend Alan Peacock.

They then had a photo opportunity in the home dugout with him.

SAfterwards they waited in the tunnel for the players before holding hands and walking with them onto the pitch in front of 23,111 fans.

They then shook hands with the players and officials before taking their seats in the stand with their parents to watch the game, which Middlesbrough won 3-1.

Kris said: “It was an amazing experience that not all football crazy children get to do and I’ve never seen so many smiling faces.

“The boys and girls’ schools were also fantastic, understanding that they will endure some very tired boys and girls after a very late night.

“They were all up in their respective assemblies telling the tale to the school.

“In one of the schools, St Mary’s, teacher Mr McGeeny was also at the game and filmed the experience, showing the video during assembly.”
