Event raises £3,000 for working horses charity

A Christmas event for a charity which helps working horses and don keys has raised more than £3,000.

The Christmas in Yorkshire event was held at the Garden Rooms at Tennants on December 6.

It was hosted by author Hannah Russell, who is an ambassador raises for Brooke – Action for Working Horses and Donkeys.

The event featured mulled wine, afternoon tea and a fashion show from local businesses.

Over 100 people attended the sold-out event.

Emma Sedman Jewellery from Leyburn and Frimble clothing from Bedale showed of their winter collections on the catwalk.

Hannah said: “It was a lovely festive event.

“I wanted to create something here in Yorkshire to show people the work I do with the charity and help raise further awareness, it will be an event which I hope will continue and grow for many years.”

On the day there was also an original painting being raffled by Yorkshire Dales artist Sharron Russell. The piece raised £438 with all the proceeds going to the Brooke charity.

The final figure raised on the day was £3,110 in total for the charity, and there has already been a date set for 2020m which is Friday, December 4.

Tickets will go on sale on July 1.
