Alleviation: Winter Solstice Healing & Celebration
Alleviation is the action or process of making suffering, deficiency or a problem less severe and we believe that music, creation, talking, participation and expression can be helpful and therapeutic methods to alleviate our earthly woes. With the intention of improving mental health and reducing suicide and self-harm in the Richmondshire region we have put together this special winter solstice occasion in association with Caleidoscope Counselling Services to help make a difference in our local community.
The event will be split into two halves, starting with some Winter Solstice Healing courtesy of Caleidoscope Counselling from 11pm – 6pm. During this time there will be a free, confidential one to one counselling drop-in service available in the office downstairs and group therapy workshops taking place upstairs over the afternoon. The workshops will include:
11am – 1pm – Songwriting for Self-Expression
(feel free to bring an instrument)
1:20pm – 2:20pm – Stress Awareness
2:30pm – 3:30pm – Gong and Drum Sound Bath
(feel free to bring a cushion, blanket or mat)
3:40pm – 4:30pm – Stress Management.
Please ensure you arrive on time if you wish to partake in any of these workshops.
The celebrations will follow from 7pm – late, showcasing a range of live music acts displaying creativity and expression as a positive form of outlet for processing mental health conditions. The music aims to inspire, uplift and bring people together.
These events are free to attend and there is no need to book. All are welcome.

>>>>> Ceiling Demons ?
Gloomy, introspective folk rap punks and Richmond natives Ceiling Demons return to headline following a year of notable festival appearances at Stockton Calling, Long Division, Richmond Live & Last Train Home as well as key supports with the likes of Dylan Cartlidge, Ceschi Ramos & Armand Hammer! As strong advocates of mental health – they address psychological conditions in their art and have worked extensively with suicide prevention charities to raise awareness and funds for a cause close to their hearts. Performing a full band set with special guests, this promises to be a rather unique winter solstice celebration!

They have played many credible festivals including Leeds Festival, The Great Escape and Stockton Calling and also run their own annual DIY safe-space festival – Mousetival. Known for their explosively raw live performances, they have toured across the UK and Europe and have shared stages with the likes of Martha, Idles & Wolf Alice!
