Sunday 24th – Tuesday 26th October

£260 per person (£50 Single Supplement) – price includes 2 nights Dinner, Bed & Breakfast at The Mickleover Court Hotel, entrance to Keddleston Hall, Nostell Priory & National Arboretum with Land Train.

Day 1

We will make our journey south calling in at Nostell Priory on route. Nostell is a grand house which was built to impress by master craftsmen in the 18th century. The house is full to the brim with exquisite furniture and décor, including over 100 items of Thomas Chippendale furniture. Spend time exploring the house, the working kitchen garden and also the secluded Menagerie Garden.  We will leave here mid-afternoon to make our way to our hotel, The Mickleover Court, Derby. You will have full access to the hotel leisure facilities including sauna, steam room, spa bath and indoor pool. Our evening meal tonight will be at 7.30pm.

Day 2

After a leisurely breakfast, we make our way to the National Arboretum, spending a day of reflection. Opened in 2001, and the idea of David Childs, the Arboretum is a living tribute to service men and women for future generations to reflect upon and enjoy. Spanning over 150 acres of an old gravel working, the memorial garden now contains over 50,000 trees with more being added each year. You will be amazed with the sight of the tree’s changing colours when visiting in autumn. The rest of the day will be spent here exploring the developing landscape and viewing the 330 symbolic and inspiring memorials. We will also take a ride on the land train, which will allow us to take in a large proportion of the site’s fascinating highlights with informative commentary along the way. Our evening meal will be served at 7.30pm.

Day 3

After our breakfast we will leave the hotel to return home at 10am. We will begin our journey north, stopping at Kedleston Hall on route. Designed by Robert Adam as a ‘temple of the arts’ in the 1760’s, it has been at the seat of the Curzon family ever since and is still lived in today.  We will spend a few hours here, giving you time to discover the family history and view the many rooms of the house including the recently refurbished Billiard room, and the very carefully cared for Lady Curzon’s Peacock Dress that was worn for the 1903 Delhi Durbar.

This trip departs from Scotch Corner, Richmond, Catterick Garrison, Leyburn & Leeming Bar!
