Esk Valley Theatre Company bring live theatre to Barton

Barton Village Hall is delighted to welcome Esk Valley Theatre with their touring production of the classic American comedy ‘The Owl and the Pussycat’ by Bill Manhoff.   Esk Valley Theatre is based in Glaisdale in the heart of the North York Moors. They will be touring ‘The Owl and the Pussycat’ to venues in North Yorkshire, Cleveland and Cumbria throughout Autumn and will perform at Barton Village Hall on Monday 29th October – their only performance in Richmondshire!
‘The Owl and the Pussycat’ was a comedy hit on Broadway in the 1960s with Alan Alda and Diana Sands, and was also made into a hugely successful film starring Barbara Streisand and George Segal.  Set in San Francisco, the play is about two unlikely neighbours. Doris wants everyone to think she is a talented model and actress and Felix wants everyone to think he is a talented writer, but that’s not quite the truth. Both have identity issues and through the course of the play they start to discover who they really are. ‘The Owl and the Pussycat’ is a heart-warming comedy about unexpected love and the attraction of opposites.
The play is not suitable for children and as a guide Esk Valley Theatre are recommending it for adults and young people aged 13 and over.
Esk Valley Theatre has such a great reputation that no fewer than 2000 actors applied to audition for this play and their recent production of Noel Coward’s ‘Private Lives’.  A review of one of their earlier productions states that “Esk Valley Theatre again brings theatre of real quality to a North Yorkshire village.”  We are very excited that they are now bringing top quality live theatre to Barton!
