Suzanne Jewellery

Lampwork artist Suzanne Tweddle’s studio is situated in the beautiful market town of Barnard Castle from which she designs and hand makes glass beads, buttons, baubles, flowers and jewellery using a technique known as lampworking – ‘the art of making small objects from glass rods melted in the flame of a torch’.

Suzanne’s discovery and exploration of the art of lampworking has drawn her towards the use of glass as a medium to incorporate into her jewellery designs, injecting colour and contrast to the silver and other materials used.

‘Lampworking is a technique that enables me to design and individually make beautiful beads with intricate detail, making each bead unique. Colour is what motivates my designs, from the brightest oranges to the coolest blues. The combinations evolve through experimentation reflected in nature, fabrics and fashion.’

With 15 years of bead making experience Suzanne also offers tuition in lampworking at her studio in Barnard Castle.
