The work of former Wensleydale newspaper photographer Frank Knowles will be celebrated at a month-long exhibition at the Garden Rooms at Tennants in Leyburn.

Frank captured life in and around Wensleydale in all its forms during the decade that he spent as a staff photographer for a local newspaper.

From the drama of the Blea Moor railway crash to local gymkhanas and dramatic winter weather, Frank Knowles’s images form a time capsule of  the dale.

More than 50 of Frank’s photographs will be reproduced in the exhibition – alongside his recollections of the events.

Frank, who will be 90 in January, went on to manage the ironmongery in Leyburn for many years, but he remained a keen photographer whose pictures have been regularly published in local newspapers and magazines over the years.

The Exhibition will run from 18th January until 17th February 2019.

Frank will be on hand in the gallery on January 19 to talk to visitors and reveal more about the stories behind the pictures and his life as a photographer in Wensleydale.

Frank will be here between 10.30am and 12.30pm.

Admission is free.
