Plans have been submitted to turn a Richmondshire village pub into a ‘high-end, contemporary destination to eat and drink’.

The owners of the Green Tree Inn in Patrick Brompton have drawn up plans to knock down an existing single-storey extension to the rear of the pub.

In its place they want to build a new two-storey extension.

The new building would include additional bar seating downstairs and restaurant space upstairs.

The bedrooms currently on the first floor would be replaced with kitchen facilities for the new restaurant.

Documents submitted with the plans by the architects state: “Aspect Architecture has worked closely with their client and the owner of The Green Tree Inn, who has lived locally for a great number of years.

“Due to rising popularity, the client requires an extension to the existing bar and drinking areas with a separate space to cater for restaurant dining on the floor above.

“The design team have undertaken a substantial amount of work to produce a concept design that: respects and enriches the character of the historic inn, will provide the the village of Patrick Brompton with a high-end, contemporary destination to eat and drink.

“Hopefully the proposal will also attract further local customers and bring visitors from further afield to the area.”

The plans also request the change of use of the first floor from a hotel to a restaurant.

The application has been submitted by owners UK Estates Management Ltd.
