Fairport Convention performer to play in Wensleydale

Multi-instrumentalist and singer-songwriter Chris Leslie will bring his one-man show to the Dales later this month.

Chris from Oxfordshire, who is primarily known for the past 25 years for his work with Fairport Convention, will appear at Carperby Village Institute on Saturday, November 12.

His fiddle playing has been heard on the TV series Heartbeat, Midsomer Murders and Billy Connolly’s World Tour of Scotland.

He has toured and recorded with, amongst others: Steve Ashley, the Albion Band, Jez Lowe, Ian Anderson, Chris While and Julie Matthews, Whippersnapper, Alan Stivell, Feast of Fiddles and St. Agnes Fountain. He has also provided music for a number of Radio Four plays and classic serials. Chris plays Fiddle, Mandolin, Tenor Guitar, Bouzouki, Ukulele, Banjo, Oud, Whistle and Native American Flute.

Steve Sheldon, from Carperby Concerts, said: “If that was not enough to be going on with, he is an accomplished magician who baffled audiences on a recent Fairport river cruise.

“Ask him nicely and he may make all your troubles disappear!”

The concert will be on Saturday, November 12 at 8pm at Carperby Village Institute.
