A mother and three young children were rescued last night after getting lost in Hackfall Wood.
Volunteers from Swaledale Mountain Rescue Team were called out yesterday evening to search for the group.
They were located by team members and led to safety.
A spokesman for the service said they were a little cold but otherwise fit and well.
Hackfall, near Masham, features follies, grottoes, views, waterfalls and a fountain created by 18th century owner John Aislabie, who is famous for his landscaping work at nearby Fountains Abbey and Studley Royal.
All members of Catterick Garrison-based Swaledale Mountain Rescue Team, based in Catterick Garrison are volunteers.
