Chris Wilde and Julie Matthews, the longest-lasting female duo in Britain, will perform at Reeth Memorial Hall in Swaledale on Friday, October 31.
Chris and Julie have played more than 3,000 gigs, appeared on over 100 albums, written hundreds of original songs and reached millions of people around the world, but 30 years after their debut, they still sound as fresh and vital as ever.
Generally regarded as folk/singer-songwriters, their outlook is actually more akin to the DIY philosophy of punk.
Working from a small village near Sheffield, nearly 200 miles north of the London-centric UK music industry, the duo run their own label and publishing company, record and produce their albums from their own studio, perform all their own material, and have always valued their complete autonomy and creative freedom.
Their songs are varied and colourful and draw inspiration from the overtly political to key social issues and real-life human stories.
Tickets are £18 in advance (£20 on the door) and under 16s are half price; on sale at Reeth Post Office or contact Glen Steward 01748-884989, email: memorialhall@swaledale.org
Proceeds are in aid of hall funds.
Doors open at 7.30pm for an 8pm start.
