Fiji Day celebrated at Catterick Garrison primary school

Pupils staff and parents at Le Cateau Community Primary School enjoyed taking part in celebrations of Fiji Day this week.

The Fijian community within the school came together to perform traditional songs and dances which were enjoyed by  children and parents.

The staff and parents were then treated to some home cooked foods prepared by Fijian families, which staff said were a big hit with many complimenting the fantastic flavours.

Headteacher Ian Mottram said: “Le Cateau prides it’s self with being part of a wide multicultural community and being able to bring the celebrations to the rest of the children not only brightened there day but gave them an insight into the wonderful Fijian traditions.

“Congratulations and thank you to all our families who came and welcomed us into your day of celebration.”
