Hawes and District Gala will celebrate its 50th year on Saturday with organisers hoping the event will be the best yet.
The event will feature a range of family activities, including a fancy dress procession lead by the gala queen Bethan Sowerby, fairground rides, music, trade stalls, competitions, and food and drink.
This year’s show at Hawes Community Field will include a performance by the Inch Perfect Trials Team.
This story continues after the adverts:
The gala opens at midday with the fancy dress procession from the town centre starting at 12.30pm.
This is followed by judging of the fancy dress, a magic show, races and tug of war.
The event, now in it’s 50th year, is largely funded by contributions from local businesses and individuals, and is run entirely by volunteers.
The Gala draws to a close around 4.30pm and is followed by a children’s disco, with special guest appearance, from 6.30pm to 8:30 pm at the Market Hall with a separate entry fee of £2.50 per child.
Admission with a programme is £3 in advance or £4 on the day. Programmes are on sale at Masons Paper shop, Dales Countryside Museum and the Upper Wensleydale Community Office.
