Firefighters were called to a property in Middleham during the early hours of the morning after reports of a smoke alarm sounding and a smell of burning.
Crews from Leyburn and Masham attended the incident at about 2.30am.
On arrival, firefighters used a triple extension ladder to gain access to the property and discovered a pan had been left on a hob, triggering the smoke alarms.
The crews ventilated the property naturally to clear the smoke and provided safety advice to the occupant.
