Fire crews were called to a fire in a box trailer last night.
The incident in Hospital Road, near Scorton, was reported at 8.26pm.
Firefighters from Richmond extinguished the fire within a small open box trailer, containing scrap materials.
It was extinguished using one hose reel.
North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service said they believed the cause was deliberate.
