
Firefighters were called to a house fire in Catterick Village this afternoon.
Crews from Richmond, Bedale and Northallerton were called to the incident in Bishops Way at 4.23pm.
It is understood the house has been badly damaged but nobody has been injured.
A spokeswoman for North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service said at 6.45pm that the fire was extinguished at about 5.30pm.
Crews are still at the scene however and a fire investigations officer is due at the property this evening.
Local residents have already launched an online appeal to raise £1,500 for the occupants of the home which according to reports are due to get married next month.
Within three hours of the fire being reported the appeal had already raised more than £300.
