Firefighters called to secure dangerous tile on Richmond roof

Firefighters removed a loose tile from a roof in Richmond today.

The Richmond crew was called to Bridge Street at about 7.20am.

A spokesman for North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service said: “It was a tile on a roof that was overhanging the pavement.

“It was quite dangerous and could have fallen on to the pavement below.”

The overhanging tile was reported by local resident Pete Bunce.

he said: “I spotted a big stone tile that had come adrift across the road from my holiday cottage.

“It was a potential killer so I rang the fire brigade who came and got it down.”

The crew used a 13.5m ladder.

The road was shut while the job was carried out.
