Firefighters were called to tackle a fire on Army ranges near Catterick Garrison last night.
The fire was reported at about 11.45pm.
A crew from Colburn Fire Station attended the small fire which was believed to have been caused by a flare.
Firefighters extinguished the fire using beaters and knapsack sprayers.
