Firefighters called to fire in Richmond flat

Firefighters were called to a fire in a flat in Richmond this morning.

Crews from Richmond, Colburn and Leyburn responded to the incident just before 1am.

The fire was in a first floor flat.

A spokesperson for North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service said: “Crews entered under rapid deployment to prevent fire spread and escalation of the incident.

“Crew used two breathing apparatus and a hose reel jet to extinguish the fire and a positive pressure ventilation fan to clear smoke logging.

“Crews then check the remaining flats for signs of fire spread and hotspots.”

The fire started in the kitchen of the flat.
