Firefighters attended a blaze in a telephone exchange.
The Richmond crew was called at about 10.20pm on Tuesday to the incident in Piercebridge after a smoke alarm activated.
On arrival they confirmed a small fire has occurred involving electrical wiring.
The incident was left in the hands of a BT engineer.
