Firefighters were called to a house fire in Richmond yesterday.
Colburn, Leyburn and Richmond crews attended the fire within a deep fat fryer in a home in Norman Square.
The incident was reported at 8pm on Saturday.
The occupier had tried to tackle the fire using a wet tea towel and a dry powder extinguisher.
Crews contained the fire and removed the fryer outside.
They used breathing apparatus, hose reel jet, fire blanket, thermal imaging camera and positive pressure ventilation.
They also fitted new smoke alarms.
