Firefighters were called to a report of a fire in Middleton Tyas yesterday.
The fire in a commercial property was reported at 6.16pm.
A crew from Richmond discovered a small electrical fire which was out on arrival after being extinguished by the occupiers.
Firefighters inspected the scene using a thermal imaging camera and short extension ladder.
The cause is believed to have been a fault with an extractor fan.
