Firefighters called to petrol station after smoke spotted

Firefighters were called to the petrol station at Tesco in Catterick Garrison last night after smoke was spotted.

Richmond and Colburn fire crews attended the incident at about 10pm.

A spokesperson for North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service said: “This was found to be cosmetic smoke set off within the premises due to an accidental activation of an intruder alarm.”

  1. What is cosmetic smoke, and why is it used, does it pose a health threat and do all petrol stations have installed to deter intruders? Everyday is a School Day for Learning!
