Firefighters were called to a report of a van on fire on the A1(M) yesterday.
The incident happened on the southbound carriageway between near Scotch Corner at about 9.15am on Sunday.
On arrival crews found this to be a false alarm due to a blown turbo.
No action was taken by the fire service and the incident was left with Highways England.
